Today was the closing day and the last day of Binus Cup. Our meeting for the day started at 12:30 p.m, on the 8th floor tower A. We then discussed the days event and how everything would go. We then separated to our respective groups, because i am also in the closing ceremony, i joined in the ceremonies group. I was assigned to take care of GIGI art dance school, to pick them up form the lobby, bring them up to the 4th floor drama room for them to settle down. The game started at 1:30 p.m., form there i started in the medical team, gladly to say that the boy who broke his leg some time ago is fine and he came to support his team. At 6 oclock, i had to go down to the lobby to take care of the lift flow because guests coming to see the closing were coming and the 0th floor was extremely full. After that i got to the GIGI's art school of dance and brought them to the 4th floor drama room to prepare and settle down. There were about 43 people and i had to go to the 7th floor to get their food. They performed on the 8th floor, 2 parts. Raisa also performed, there were also the awarding ceremony, everyone were there and things went smoothly. It was a great show, things went well and the entire event officially ended at about 12:00 midnight. The last two weeks have been very tiring, everyone had to stay back very late to patrol and take shifts for the Binus cup. There were many criticisms and praises, everything jumbled up. But despite the negative criticisms and everything else, the entire event turned out successful and remarkable. Everyone worked well with each other, we all got to know one another even better, we were able to learn to cooperate with people form many different schools and different people. This also gave us a learning experience when we are given unwanted/unexpected situations, we should be able to overcome and tackle it. I also learned how important every division is to an event: medical, ceremonies, competition, sponsorships and consumption. SO the next time i am a part of an event, or hosting it, i am sure of what is needed. Being a part of the ceremonies team allowed me to be able to expand my network, because i now know i have a link to an emcee. I also know how important and how to fill in a show for the audience. Entertainment is also very important, Raise and GIGI art school of dance are one of the amazing performance and entertainment. Being a part of the medical team allowed me to be more aware of different medical cases and how to treat them, i know the many different kinds of medicine and how to treat it better. The two keys of being in the medical team: calm down and stay calm, and to always give the patient air to breathe and space. For the entire thins, for everything that happened and for everything that i experienced, i am glad to say that i learned a lot, experienced a lot and ive made a lot of effort in learning and experiencing the entire event.

Things went smoothly during the afternoon and evening, probably a few injuries that was dealt with using the aerosol spray and some ice pack. There was a shock injury when during the last game, one of the basketball players got hit on the head by a ball and fell face first and experienced a short episode of seizure. Medical team were rushing to aid and the player was rushed to the hospital to ensure medical safety. This was another injury that no one expected or hope to experience ever again. From this injury, i now know what a seizure looks like and how to treat it and the importance of transportation when patients needs to be rushed to the hospital.
18 September 2013, Wednesday
Yesterday i was on shift on behalf of the ceremonies group and mostly for the medical team. No major injuries happened, thankfully, things went fine today. of course there were some minor injuries like a sore feet of probably some injuries because of getting hit. Things were dealt with the use of aerosol spray and the ice pack. Medical team stayed alert all the way to the end, that is the most important thing when being a part of the medical team also when hosting an event. There was a case of asthma and there was no asthma spray. Next time, there should always be an asthma spray just incase such incident happens. Because of us missing an asthma spray, in a sport event, it really made me be sure to always be prepared in events, or in anything at all.
14 September 2013, Saturday
My shift for today was for the medical team. During the morning, nothing major happened medically, good thing, because no one was inured. But in the afternoon, Al Ikhlas and Jubilee school had a match and one of the players from Jubilee school injured a member from Al Ikhlas and it resulted in a broken bone on the right calf. Immediate medical attention was given. The medical team was busy calling the head - Dinda, carrying the patient, calling for transportation and keeping calm the patient and the surrounding. There were many fuss and many were very shocked because it was an injury that no one expected because it was just a friendly high school game. The patient was immediately sent to the nearby hospital - Rumah Sakit Pertamina. All the PIC's were discussing and trying to keep all situations calm. There was a moment of tension as the two schools continued to play and finish off the game. Security was being called up to make sure no fight or unwanted situations happened. The principal, Mr. Peter, Stefan Wong (Binus cup president) and Dinda (medical team head) was in the hospital, along with both parties of the soccer team to handle the problem. It was confirmed that both bones in the calf was broken and a pen was needed. Binus agreed to take some responsibility for the injured and will have the legal team step forward. Today was a really shocking day for me, im sure to the others a well because no one expected such injuries/ accidents to happen, so it was really a test for all of us, not only to the medical team but to all! i don't think we were panicked, i think mostly shocked, so i know that i should really learn how to stay calm, stay alert to any sudden occurrences, always prepare for anything, have transportation at the ready and always be able to communicate with people even if it is in a very bad situation.
12 September 2013, Wednesday
Today felt like a very improved and effective day because today i was on medical duty and i was more aware of the use of the medical instruments and how to handle cases. I also learned that being a part of the medical team, i should always be focused and alert if ever any injuries happen, i will always make an immediate and fast move. Today, 4 people got injured and needed medical attention: one boy who got hit on the chest by a soccer ball. he needed ice and some aerosol, including oxygen. Another got hurt on the face because he got hit by the ball - he needed ice and counterpain (medicine). Another got his in his private area and needed ice. The last one needed ice and aerosol because he sprained his ankle. Ive been experiencing cases like these before so in the future, hosting an event of not, i will still be able to aid and help if cases like this was to happen.
8 September 2013, Sunday
I stayed in school being a part of the medical team from 9:00 a.m., to 18:00 p.m. Throughout the day i am relieved to say that there were o major injuries. There were people falling and getting kicked but not to the level where medical help is needed. There were a few who needed aerosol spray and some band aids. Today i learned that when hosting an event, you need to take note of the teams organization and the concept of changing of shifts. The great thing about sifts is that there will be a balanced distribution load of work between the team members. This helps the team members to have a break. rest is highly needed when events as big as this happens. The other thing i learned the most would be cleanliness. because there were so many teams coming in and out playing, there were so many rubbish. It is important for the comfort of both the school and the other schools to be able to locate in a good environment. Not only that but we hold the name of Binus and we want to be known also as clean. THere weren't any difficulties for everything went according to plan.
7 September 2013, Saturday
Today i was on medical duty, i had to stay alert if any injuries happened. There were about 3 injuries that happened today at the place where i was watching - 9th floor. 2 were participants and one from our medical team. The two was injured because of the game and we used the oxygen can, aerosol, band aids, ice to avoid swelling and an antiseptic. What i evaluated form today was that we were all new at this, so we were a bit rough. We were also too crowded, we should have just left some space for the injuries and let the one closest work on it. I personally need to learn to calm down so this was a good practice for me. I also saw how highly important the medical team is so if ever i was to be a part of host an event, always remember to have a medical team on stand by: not only in making events but i should also learn to take any obstacles/challenges or any events calmly and carefully.
6 September 2013, Friday
Today was the opening ceremony and i was assigned to be an usher for SMA 47. We got ready at 1 and waited for the schools to arrive. The ceremony was supposed to start at 1:45 p.m, but because we had to wait for the schools to arrive, there was a delay. My school did not come for the ceremony so i took the oath on behalf of SMA 47. They did however, come to school after the ceremony. So i guided them to the ticket area where they had to take their name tags with all their data. This was a new experience for me because ive never been given a school to usher before, so this was an opportunity to make friends and learn to cooperate with other people.
5 September 2013, Thursday
Today i focused mostly on the deville boards, sticking double tape on the paper with the schoold name for tomorrows preparations. i also practiced ushering for tomorrows opening ceremony - i got SMAN 47 for tomorrow. I saw how busy everyone was preparing for tomorrow and how they were all working together to prepare for tomorrow. the one thing i learned today was that team work matters. without team work, there would be mo success, there would be no binus cup, 41 schools, more than 50 committee members, etc. There also needs to be a lot of communication and involvements to ensure that everyone is aware of what is happening and for no unwanted things to happen. So again, the most important thins i COMMUNICATION AND TEAM WORK.
4 September 2013, Wednesday
I focused on the decorations today. Sticking on the boards, printing of the schools name and helping with the banners. The difficulties i faced today was not too bad, just that i was quite confused with the school names because there are so many. Doing that made me aware of the many schools in Jakarta and how big the community is. Not only that, but it was amazing how all the 41 schools are able to get together for such a big event. The other challenging thing today experienced by the team was ironing the banner. It was so wrinkled and we wanted to iron it and make it look neater so we had to iron it. However, it was not so easy because we couldnt get it very neat. With the help of Pak Ade, he told us to spray the cloth above the banner with water and iron it. It will certainly get ironned properly - which worked! That was something educational that i learnt today that i can use in the future. Decorations were all put up already. We just need to complete the deville board.

29 August 2013, Thursday
Today, the medical team that i joined besides the opening/closing ceremony had a very important and educational meeting with the 2 nurses from the clinic. This is a very important meeting because this is when we learn all safety actions that needs to be understood if ever anything happens during the Binus Cup competition. I learned many different cases that relates to the medical; bleeding, headache, stomach problems, allergies, broken bones, fainting, lack of oxygen and a sprain, including how to do a CPR if ever someone has a pulse but is not breathing. Doing and being a part of the medical group was not something I planned to do but this gave me an open mind that organizing events are not just about focusing on the fun, the games, prizes, sponsors, etc. But safety is extremely important not only in sport events like Binus Cup, but any events. Just like hosting/organizin
g events, being in the medical team makes sure that i'm calm whenever and wherever, which is important, and that i can make my surroundings calm too. I'm very new when it comes to treating patients, i hope nothing bad happens and that the team will all be ready to face everything during the Binus Cup! This is great for me not only during BInus cup, but after as well, I gained a new knowledge o if ever anything bad happens in the future, i can at least have some knowledge and help out.
