14 September 2013, Saturday

My shift for today was for the medical team. During the morning, nothing major happened medically, good thing, because no one was inured. But in the afternoon, Al Ikhlas and Jubilee school had a match and one of the players from Jubilee school injured a member from Al Ikhlas and it resulted in a broken bone on the right calf. Immediate medical attention was given. The medical team was busy calling the head - Dinda, carrying the patient, calling for transportation and keeping calm the patient and the surrounding. There were many fuss and many were very shocked because it was an injury that no one expected because it was just a friendly high school game. The patient was immediately sent to the nearby hospital - Rumah Sakit Pertamina. All the PIC's were discussing and trying to keep all situations calm. There was a moment of tension as the two schools continued to play and finish off the game. Security was being called up to make sure no fight or unwanted situations happened. The principal, Mr. Peter, Stefan Wong (Binus cup president) and Dinda (medical team head) was in the hospital, along with both parties of the soccer team to handle the problem. It was confirmed that both bones in the calf was broken and a pen was needed. Binus agreed to take some responsibility for the injured and will have the legal team step forward. Today was a really shocking day for me, im sure to the others a well because no one expected such injuries/ accidents to happen, so it was really a test for all of us, not only to the medical team but to all! i don't think we were panicked, i think mostly shocked, so i know that i should really learn how to stay calm, stay alert to any sudden occurrences, always prepare for anything, have transportation at the ready and always be able to communicate with people even if it is in a very bad situation.
